This immersive experience allowed me to deeply explore the profession of an air traffic controller. During this period, I had the opportunity to guide several aircraft on the ground (LFPG Ground), thereby enriching my knowledge and skills in the field of aviation.

Internship at the Municipality of Kalibo (OMPDC) Internship Agreement

For my second-year internship in the BUT SD program, I had the opportunity to undertake it at the Office of the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator LGU Kalibo. This internship involved assisting in updating the land use plan and assessing climate and disaster risks for the municipality of Kalibo, in the Philippines.

Week 1 (April 28, 2025 - May 2, 2025)

During my first week, I met the team, discovered the facilities, and discussed the internship objectives. I was impressed by their commitment to sustainable development.

On the first day of my internship (April 28, 2025), I was welcomed by the Office of the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator team. I had the opportunity to meet my colleagues and get familiar with the facilities. We discussed the internship objectives and ongoing projects.

We also visited the municipal planning office, where I observed various ongoing activities. I was impressed by the team's commitment to sustainable development and climate risk management.

Finally, I participated in a team meeting where we discussed the priorities for the coming week. I was excited to start working on the ongoing projects.

On the second day (April 29, 2025), I was involved in updating the municipality's land use plan. I worked with the team to analyze geographic data and identify risk areas. We used mapping tools to visualize the information.

I also attended a meeting with representatives from other departments to discuss ongoing projects. It was interesting to see how different services collaborated to achieve common goals.

At the end of the day, I had the opportunity to ask questions about the planning process and learn more about the challenges the municipality faces regarding sustainable development.

On the third day (April 30, 2025), I started using CSPro 8.0 software and performed simple data extractions, such as the number of "PWD per Barangay" or "Senior Citizen with and without ID per Barangay".

These extractions required adjustments in Excel, based on the 2022 report.

On the fourth day (May 1, 2025), I learned about QGIS software to explore how some data could be represented on a map of the region.

I noticed the software's complexity, especially when creating the map and starting the legend.

On the fifth day (May 2, 2025), we started working on a PowerPoint presentation (PPTX) based on data prepared by a statistician.

This data will be presented at a meeting to coordinate efforts between all municipal departments and the city's Barangays, to plan sustainable development initiatives for the next week.

This task allowed me to collaborate with the team to structure the information clearly and effectively for presentation.

Week 2 (May 5, 2025 - May 9, 2025)

During the second week, I continued updating the land use plan and participated in urban planning meetings. I also visited local sites to better understand urban development challenges.

On the sixth day (May 5, 2025), we visited several sites of interest for climate risk management. I observed the existing infrastructure and assessed the challenges faced by the municipality.

On the seventh day, May 6, no journal was written for that day.

On the eighth day, May 7, I finalized the PowerPoint presentation containing the 2022 global data. This task was essential to prepare for the meeting scheduled for the next day.

I also analyzed the information to identify priority actions to implement in the coming months and years, in collaboration with the team.

On the ninth day, May 8, I participated in the Sectoral Municipality Meeting where the CBMS 2022 PPTX was presented. This meeting brought together representatives from different departments and the municipality's Barangays.

I observed how the CBMS 2022 information was presented and discussed, as well as the participants' reactions. This helped me better understand the decision-making process within the municipality and the importance of data in strategic planning.

On the tenth day, May 9, I was involved in preparing the follow-up meeting after the CBMS 2022 presentation. I helped compile participants' feedback and identify next steps to implement the recommendations from the meeting.

This experience showed me how data can influence policy decisions and how collaboration between departments is essential to achieve sustainable development goals.

Week 3 (May 12, 2025 - May 16, 2025)

This week was marked by the resumption of meetings and reporting activities, preparation of documents for project planning, and data analysis for the annual profile. I participated in discussions with various departments and contributed to coordinating actions between teams and LGUs, while deepening my skills in project management and data analysis.

May 12, 2025 was an election day in the Philippines, so it was a public holiday. No internship activities took place that day.

Morning: 9:04 AM - Attended a meeting with the team (topics: reporting, maintenance, finances). Discussion on actions to be taken for each department: review of finances, ranking from 1 to 5 by office (amount), analysis of factors (capacity, budget), financial situation.

9:15 AM - End of the meeting, informal discussions with colleagues.

9:20 AM - Back to the office and resumed work on ongoing tasks.

Afternoon: Continued back office activities: analysis of financial documents, preparation of reports, and organization of next steps for ongoing project management. Regular exchanges with team members to clarify certain points and ensure follow-up on actions decided in the morning.

End of day: Summary of progress, update of the task tracking table, and planning of priorities for the next day.

Morning: Review of the CBMS 2022 reporting and preparation of necessary documents for the meeting.

10:15 AM - Attended a meeting with GOV-CDR. The main objective was to determine the specifics to start the project, particularly the definition of the PMF (Performance Measure Frame).

During the meeting, we discussed setting realistic objectives for the 7 LGUs of the province of Aklan. An important point was considering the differences in perspectives and priorities between the various LGUs to ensure effective coordination and results tailored to each local context.

Afternoon: Summary of the meeting discussions and development of an action plan for the next steps of the project.

Finalized data extraction to improve the next annual profile, focusing on the following variables: age, gender, and households by risk area. Created thematic maps representing risk areas for each category to better visualize the distribution of vulnerable populations and support future action planning.

Week 4 (May 19, 2025 - May 23, 2025)

Morning: Review and finalization of the ongoing 2024 economic profile.
11:50 AM - 12:05 PM: Attended a team meeting (Team building information).

Afternoon: Data extraction at the request of the DILG department (Department of the Interior and Local Government): creation of a file with one data per page.
Extraction of populations by barangay for the following categories: Solo Parent, Senior Citizen, OFW, PWD, Labor Force, Unemployed, IPs, out-of-school children (6-14 years old), out-of-school youth (15-24 years old), population by age group.

Finalization of the DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government) request started yesterday.

New request: Started collecting and organizing information regarding school activities (high school and university), financial aspects, tuition fees, family budget for the first semester, and student expenses. This task aims to prepare a detailed report to respond to the department's request, gathering the necessary data on expenses and activities related to schooling.

A request was sent to the various schools in the city so they can send us their data in the coming days.

May 26, 2025: Finalization of the "Household Map" according to flood-prone areas. I worked on updating and verifying maps showing the distribution of households in different flood risk zones. This task required analyzing geographic data and collaborating with the team to ensure the accuracy of the mapping information.

On June 3, 2025, we went to see the PSA department to clarify some ongoing and pending data. Later, we proceeded to print the new version of the 2024 economic profile, with corrections made for a first simplified version.

June 4, 2025: Attended the monthly meeting at 9:30 AM, where we compared the current meeting with the previous month's session. The Office Order was set, and we reviewed the recent Team Building activity. I also started planning for the end-of-event tasks.

June 5, 2025: Printed the economic profile with the latest corrections (tables, notes, data, etc.), fixed pagination, and considered adding the department section.

On June 9, 2025, we finalized the final version of the new 2024 economic profile, after several weeks of data collection, analysis, and verification. This document, which summarizes the main economic indicators of the municipality for the year 2024, was carefully proofread and formatted to ensure its clarity and reliability.

Following this completion, we received an official "Office Order" authorizing us to begin distributing the economic profile to the various municipal departments, institutional partners, and relevant stakeholders. This step marks the start of the dissemination phase, which is essential for local actors to rely on up-to-date data in their decision-making and project planning.

The day was also devoted to the logistical preparation of the distribution: printing copies, organizing batches by department, and drafting a cover letter explaining the importance of the document and the main new features of this 2024 edition. This teamwork ensured that each recipient would receive the profile in the best possible conditions and be able to use it effectively in their work.
